Have a Joyful and Happy Day!

So, if you remember my post from yesterday, Have a Good Day, I had started talking about something my mom had said to me at the end of one of our phone conversations.

“Have a good, joyful, happy, productive day…”

For whatever reason, the whole phrase really stood out to me.  Probably because I have been working on the whole joyful and happiness bit.  Not to mention – trying to be productive. But that’s a story for another day.  Namely, tomorrow…

Today, I am going to focus on Joyful and Happy.

There is actually quite a bit of controversy in religious circles about these two words and their meanings, believe it or not.  Some theologians want to separate them and classify them as two entirely different things, while others point out the synonymous ways in which they’re used in the Bible.  So, which one is correct?

Have a GOOD Day

Good Day

Have a good day!

How many times have I heard this in my life? I’d wager millions. But what does it really mean? I think too many people – myself included – have used this phrase as a Goodbye. It’s not that I don’t want someone to have a good day, it’s just what you say.

Of course, the slime didn’t “come right up!” as the happy faces on YouTube told me it would.  But, with some elbow grease and the right supplies, I think the carpet will at least be passable.

What I learned about Faith from a Violet…

This past weekend, my mother-in-law gave me a couple African Violet slips to plant. (For the record – I am so much not a plant person, I just had to look up what they were called…) Now, it’s not that I don’t like to be surrounded by plants and beautiful flowers.  I do – they make me very happy!  Unfortunately, neither of my thumbs are very green. Hence, two slips for a better chance of having some blooming violets later this summer…

A Helping Hand When We Fail and Fall

I took my children and two of their friends roller skating the other day.  I wasn’t feeling like showing off my mad skills, (and totally embarrassing my children), so I just sat and watched.

There was no school that day, so there were quite a few families at the rink.  As I sat, surrounded by skaters of all ages, I was completely mesmerized for a bit. They just kept going around and around… And then, I started really looking at the skaters.
